DELBA’s Large Machines division is equipped with state-of-the-art tools and staffed by experienced artisans, handling machines of all sizes with comprehensive repair services covering diagnostics, rewinding, assembly and testing.

Africa's largest VPI facility

4 m in diameter and 4.5 m deep, impregnating windings with epoxy resin under vacuum and pressure to eliminate voids and raise dielectric strength.

50 t and 100 t cranes

heavy-duty lifting allowing large machines to be moved safely from disassembly through to final reassembly.

Burnout oven

temperature-controlled with a quenching system, removing old insulation without damaging the stator core.

Curing oven

PLC-controlled and gas-fired with temperature monitoring, holding the precise thermal profile the insulation system requires.

Coil and bar manufacture

in-house copper extrusion, nine conductor covering lines, and a positive-pressure clean room for coil and Roebel bar production.

Balancing machine

balancing rotors up to 6 ton at 3000 RPM and rotors above 6 ton at less than 3000 RPM with a maximum capacity of 18 ton.

Test bay

comprehensive testing of repaired MV and HV machines under simulated operating conditions, from insulation resistance through to load testing.

Machine and boiler shop

full in-house machining, fabrication and replacement part manufacture.
