DELBA’s generator specialists have an average of around twenty years in the generator repair field and were trained in the Eskom environment from the early 1980s, specialising in the repair and complete rewind of generators up to 2000 MW.

Our mission is to be recognised as an active market leader adding maximum value in the power generation industry globally. We do that by keeping the entire repair chain, copper extrusion, conductor covering, coil and bar manufacture, winding, impregnation, machining, balancing and testing in house at our Springs and Alrode facilities, so that quality and turnaround is controlled by us.

DELBA’s facilities behind the work

DELBA operates one of Africa’s largest vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) plants—4 m diameter and 4.5 m deep—backed by a 100 t dual-hook overhead crane, in-house copper extrusion and coil manufacture in a positive-pressure clean room, PLC-controlled 4 m curing ovens, pyrolytic burn-off, rotor balancing to 18 t, and a full machine and boiler shop with an 8 m spray booth, enabling complete large-motor rewind, repair and replacement-part production under one roof.

Rewinding Capabilities

Delba Electrical specialises in precision rewinding for power generation equipment, including generators, alternators and rotating machines. From our Springs and Alrode facilities, we deliver tested, reliable windings that restore performance and minimise downtime.

Lifting capacity

Heavy-lift capability includes a 100-ton overhead crane with dual-hook lifting, enabling safe handling of large rotors, stators and complete rotating machines during rewind and repair.

Copper and coil manufacture

In-house copper and coil manufacture uses continuous conductor extrusion, insulation covering and a positive-pressure clean room equipped with loop winders, edge benders, coil spreaders, taping machines and a consolidation press.

Ovens

Curing and stripping are handled by a PLC-controlled 4 m × 4 m × 4 m gas-fired baking oven and a pyrolytic burn-off oven with temperature monitoring and instantaneous flame-up quenching.

Balancing

Precision rotor balancing covers units up to 6 ton at 3000 RPM and larger rotors above 6 ton at reduced speed, with a maximum capacity of 18 ton for high-speed rotating equipment.

Finishing and manufacture

Finishing and parts production include an 8 m × 8 m × 8 m spray-painting booth plus a fully equipped machine shop and boiler shop that manufacture replacement parts in-house.
